• Often an unknown environment or usage history. 
• Be wary of the ubiquitous Stein-was, improper restoration and/or non-Steinway parts.

• Every piano follows a curve of musical quality over time, starting at its best and declining due to many factors.
• Assessing a used piano's current condition is challenging, often requiring vigorous playing, testing and evaluation by an independent technician.
