For over a century, Steinway & Sons has celebrated milestones by collaborating with visionary designers to create limited-edition masterpieces. Honoring the invention of the piano—credited to Italian Bartolomeo Cristofori in 1700—Steinway enlisted renowned designer Luca Nichetto from Murano to craft a one-of-a-kind grand piano: the Gran Nichetto. This exclusive design, more than four years in the making, seamlessly blends Italian artistry with Steinway’s legendary craftsmanship.
The Gran Nichetto’s design pays homage to the sleek, flowing lines of Venetian gondolas. Finished in a deep, high-polish Midnight Red, reminiscent of vintage wine, it features hand-selected macassar ebony from Sulawesi and solid brass hardware. The music desk 
and desk plates are wrapped in fine Italian leather, while the elegantly sculpted legs and uniquely beveled lid showcase Nichetto’s meticulous attention to detail. Every Gran Nichetto is also a revolutionary SPIRIO | r, the world’s finest high-resolution player piano, offering live performance capture and an ever-expanding library of world-class recordings.
