DR. YUNA LEE

About

Korean-born American pianist Dr. Yuna Lee is an accomplished performer and dedicated educator.  She received her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance  from Mok Won University in Korea, her Master of Music in Piano Performance from Georgia State University on a full-scholarship and as a teaching assistant, and her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she was awarded the prestigious Travel Grant Award.

Dr. Lee has appeared as a soloist, accompanist, and chamber music performer in the United States (Aspen, Atlanta, Athens (GA), New York, Colorado, Boston), South-Korea, and the Philippines.  She has participated in internationally recognized festivals including the Aspen Music Festival,  Brevard Music Festival, International Keyboard Institute & Festival, and Conservatory of Music in the Mountains Music Festival on a full scholarship.  She has also performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York and has been invited to compete in international competitions including the Virginia Warning International Piano Competition in California, perform solos, give lectures, and play in piano ensembles.

She has studied with renowned artists such as Gabriel Chodos who was a distinguished performer and pedagogue at the New England Conservatory during the Aspen Music Festival for two years and participated in master classes with Oril Shaham, Bruce Murray, Nancy Rolan, Pavlina Dokovska, Eduard Zilberkant, Abbey Simon, and several others. Her principal teachers include Jeong Hee Song, Hye-Du Jeon, Dr. Geoffrey Haydon, Dr. Evgeny Rivkin and Dr. David Korevaar.

As an educator, Dr. Lee has taught the Applied Music Course at the University of Colorado, Georgia State University, Mok Won University, Joong Bu University, Pai Chai University, and Cheong Ju University in Korea.

Yuna Lee is a highly accomplished pianist, dedicated educator, and an active member of the New England Piano Teachers’ Association, Music Teachers National Association, the Massachusetts Music Teachers Association, the Steinway Teacher & Educational Partner Program (STEPs).  She was honored with the prestigious Steinway and Sons Top Teacher Award from 2023 to 2025.  Her students have consistently earned top prize-winners at international competitions such as the Elite International Competitions, Miclot International competitions and American Protégé Music International Competitions.  Many of them have also performed at Carnegie Hall in New York and the Greater Boston area.

As a person, Dr. Lee is warm, encouraging, and committed to excellence.  She builds strong connections with her students by understating their individual personalities, learning styles, and goals. Through patient guidance and high expectations, she nurtures both their musical skills and personal confidence.

She works best with motivated students of all levels—from beginners to advanced—who are eager to grow, regardless of age.
