Frédéric Chopin left Poland as a twenty-year-old never to return, but the lure of Polish dance forms never deserted him. In addition, his genius gave the Viennese waltz a new twist and stylistic brilliance. Sounds of the night were transformed by his pen into nocturnes replete with moonbeams, birdsong and nightmares. Let’s investigate a few of these gems together. . .”

This introduction by featured artist Fredrik Wanger leads into a unique event at M. Steinert & Son’s Natick Performance Hall at our Natick Mall showroom. Join us for a morning of beautiful music and insightful commentary on one of history’s most beloved and talented composers.

Fredrik Wanger is a graduate of the Oberlin and Peabody Conservatories of Music, where he studied with Leon Fleisher and was the recipient of a Fulbright Grant for study in Vienna, Austria.

Mr. Wanger is a former member of the piano faculty at Boston University, and has performed extensively in Europe, the US, Canada, Israel, and with many present and former principal BSO musicians.

Fred and his wife, Jane, have frequently concertized together performing the four hand piano literature. A member of the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement since 2008, Fred has offered courses on Schubert, Schumann, Strauss and Chopin.
