ABOUT AVIK SARKAR

Avik Sarkar is a fifteen year-old pianist, cellist & composer from Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. Avik has won international-level competitions, including first prize at the 2014 Forte International Music Competition, second prizes at the 2015 New York International Artists Competition and 2015 Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition, and third prize at the 2014 Louisiana International Piano competition. He has won first prizes at several other regional and state competitions including NEPTA, MMTA & Steinway Society of Massachusetts Association piano competitions.

Avik has played at Cadogan Hall in London UK, Symphony Hall in Boston, Carnegie Hall at New York City, and was recently heard on WGBH Radio, NPR, Boston.

Aside from piano, Avik is an award-winning composer, and plays cello in the NEC Youth Repertory Orchestra. He enjoys competition math, writing poetry, and watercolor painting. He is a member of the Center for Development of Arts Leaders (CDAL) in Boston, and is a rising sophomore at Buckingham Browne & Nichols in Cambridge, MA.
